A Grown Up Dream

Tyler and I have a few dreams that we each entered our marriage with that are a bit quirky, sweet and long-term. His is to be old and drink coffee together. Those of you who know me well know that I do. not. drink. coffee. I never have, and at this rate, I might not ever. While he was in Peru, I tired to like coffee. I would go to Starbucks and get the hot seasonal drink -- a Pumpkin Spice Latte -- then I cut down to two pumps of syrup so that I would cut down the sugar. I was totally thinking I was drinking coffee and it was growing on me, only to find out that lattes have NO COFFEE IN THEM. They are primarily milk and flavoring. Neat.

Well, one of my dreams is to lie in bed and read at night before falling asleep. This in our technologically-driven age has yet to happen, but I am happy to report that we both finished a book this week. We spent our Sunday afternoon lounging, reading, napping (yes, I napped!!) and just enjoying our sweet time together.

Unfortunately for him, his coffee dream may never come true, but today one of my "grown-up" dreams became closer to a reality.

It's Time For..

Cajun Shrimp by OPI!! I have decided that despite the snow outside and the cool temperatures that it is time for spring and that means bright, fun nails!! Cajun Shrimp is my favorite (besides classic red), and I love pulling it out every spring!

A couple at church laughs at me each week as I walk in in a dress, flats and springy colors ... they laugh because our parking lot is still like a skating rink and the thermometer measures low; however, I'm over winter. This happened last year, too. I suddenly determine that winter is over and spring has sprung; too bad I cannot control the weather to really create a springy feeling!

The Last Few Weeks...

I hoped to post more each month as the calendar flipped to 2011. The year started off well, but I have had some trouble lately. This is how I really feel and have felt lately:
  • In awe of God
  • Tired
  • Overwhelmed with God's trust in Tyler and me
  • Nauseous
  • Excited
  • Did I mention tired?!
These emotions and physical changes have come into our lives because I AM PREGNANT!! We are expecting a little bundle in late September of this year. We are beyond excited about our news, but wanted to wait and share until I was farther along. Fortunately, the time has come to shout from the rooftops that we are going to be parents and that we are just thrilled!!

This Wednesday I will be 13 weeks. We saw the baby and heard its heartbeat at 10 weeks. The doctor was pleased with the size and the heartbeat, and we are just praying that things are continuing to go well. I have been ex.haust.ed, which my mother says will never go away(!!), and nauseous, particularly in the afternoon/evening.  Tyler has been so wonderful, taking care of us both, forgiving me over and over for not cooking and for not being too caught up on the laundry, but the time will come when I get it all under control again .. I promise, T!

I am just so overwhelmed by the tiny miracle growing inside of me. The fact that God would allow this to happen, and give Tyler and me one of His precious children to take care of is just baffling. I am also in awe of the fact that God already knows everything there is to know about this baby. He knows his/her name, the exact moment he/she will be born, their first cut, first love, first heartbreak, the person they were made to marry, and every thing in-between.

We are beyond excited, and just cannot wait to meet him/her!! We'll keep you posted on life with-child as it unfolds!

A Day in the Life

Bella is a spoiled, yet well-trained, dog. She loves to be outside, to have an occasional egg on top of her food and to soak up the sun's rays. This is how she has spent the last week ... and I don't see it changing anytime in the near future. Happy Friday, enjoy the sun!

Our Most Recent Visitor

Saturday morning Tyler and I were lounging around after breakfast and Bella suddenly barked. This is unusual because she is NOT a barker .. thank heavens!! We looked outside and saw a baby moose. Yippee, a moose. We've seen lots of them, but never that close to our house. We watched it come down the hill behind our house and then go around our neighbor's house. About fifteen minutes later we thought, "Let's see if it's still around." Tyler went to the front window and there he was ...

EATING MY ROSE BUSH!! Needless to say, Tyler was thrilled, Bella was unsure and I'm praying my rose bush is just "nicely pruned."

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but you have to get pictures quickly for fear you won't get them at all. The moose is just a bit confused as to what is going on. Too funny.

Well ... that was fun, but it gets better. We thought we were officially Alaskan on Saturday, but today more so than that.

That's right folks, our visitor is back .... "pruning" another one of my rose bushes inside our fence. Seriously, I know that the animals are hungry, but really guy, really, my rose bush?! I love my roses and I take good care of them. I'm hopeful that they will come back even though the little branches are mere nubs now.

One might wonder how a moose gets inside a fence. They jump. Who knew? Not I until I moved here, but yes, moose jump and apparently they are great swimmers, too. Take a look for yourself. Again, sorry for the odd shadows and angles, but we were inside trying to get good pictures of this fun creature.

Until we meet again!

YAY for New Fonts!

I am thrilled that Blogger has introduced their new fonts! When I began blogging two years ago, the font selection was pretty slim and quite boring. I tried several back-door ways to get fun fonts, but let's face it ... I am NOT the most computer savvy person to grace this planet. Finally, blogger has brought fun fonts for everyone, computer-savvy or not, to use. What a fun Monday surprise! :)
