Still Going.

We have already travelled through some treacherous weather. Yesterday, Sunday, we travelled through pretty much a blizzard. We made it from Billings, Montana to Lethbridge, Alberta (Canada). We are so thankful that we got a new car with 4 wheel drive -- we wouldn't be this far without it! Today, Monday, we are going to Calgary, Alberta. This will be an easy 200 mile trip because we are going to wait for a friend who will caravan with us to Alaska. We will have a 3 car caravan (convoy if you are military) from here on out. We are thankful for friends and the added safety the caravan brings!

Bella's favorite sleeping place!
Making progress. This is another one of Bella's favorite places -- she pops up on the console and just hangs out with us!
Buffalo in Montana.
The blizzard and low visibility we experienced for most of Sunday.
Sunday we arrived in Alberta, Canada; one happy little family!

We're on the Move!

We have travelled 1800 miles since Thursday afternoon. Below you will find some of our pictures on the drive from Fort Riley, Kansas to Lone Tree, CO. We spent Friday night with Tyler's Aunt and Uncle, Sally and Steve. We had a marvelous time hanging out with them. We arrived mid-afternoon which was perfect because we got to hang out before dinner. Sally and Steve have a dog named Zoey who was a bit anxious at first, but definitely warmed up to Bella. They had fun playing the backyard and then together for the rest of the night. Sally and Steve took us to an indoor skydiving place which was really neat; there was a wind tunnel where the participants had the skydiving feeling without the dangers that go along with it! Saturday morning we had waffles and walked the dogs before leaving. We are so thankful to have stayed with Sally and Steve -- thank you for a wonderful time!!

We have seen many windmill farms with ginormous windmills. Here is an up close picture of a windmill.
Welcome to Colorado!
We stopped to walk Bella and knock some of the ice off of our car. The passenger side was a bit worse, but this is what I've got.
Sunset over the Rockies -- so pretty!

Movers are here!

Sorry that we are a bit behind, but we have not had the best internet access the past few days. Below are pictures of when our loaders came. Look at how big the moving truck was!! Our stuff did not fill the van, but there were wooden crates inside that our stuff went in. The movers were finished loading in 2.5 hours, which I thought was pretty incredible.

Putting our stuff in the truck.
Sealing the crates -- you can see the wooden box inside the door. They nailed a piece of wood on the front to seal our stuff in.

The Packers Came!

Today we began our first PCS (Permanent Change of Station) move and boy was it easy. A group of four men from a local moving company came in a packed our entire house in a matter of hours. Our house looks like Christmas with so many brown parcels everywhere, the only difference is that we know what is in every package! Every box, bag, oddly shaped wrapped thing has a little green sticker with a number on it and is labeled with exactly what is in the box. Kind of cool. Our movers were very nice and they should be here any minute to start our "Loading Day." We'll see how today goes!

Packages almost to the ceiling.
Can you guess what those are? They are our dining room chairs!
Our bedroom closets backed with boxes.
Our living room full; they have the cushionless couch left to do today.

Bella in the Water

On Sunday Tyler and I took Bella to a little pond on post for her to experience water. She was timid at first, but warmed up to the water. Bella loved being outside and running around in the sunshine. The weather was beautiful for her first swimming adventure even though she did not go too far in the water.

In the car -- she LOVES it! We'll see how much she loves it after our 11-day journey.

Thinking about going in...
Instead of swimming, I'll just drink!

Getting Ready to Move!

We are getting SO EXCITED for our journey to Alaska. We leave Missouri in 11 days and we are just antsy to get started moving!! Tyler will spend Thursday through Saturday in the field this week while I try to tie up loose ends to get ready to move. On Monday, March 23 our packers come and the following day our movers come. Although we are not packing a thing, we still have lots of organizing and throwing away to do before our movers get here. We've got a lot to do, but nothing too exciting, so sorry for the boring post. Below you'll find a few pictures of Alaksa; obviously we've never been there, but we will be there soon! :)

Dining Out

Tyler and I attended our first Dining Out as a married couple on Friday night. A Dining Out is a formal dinner where a unit gets together and brings dates or guests. It was fun to put on a pretty dress and participate in an Army tradition, full of ceremony and pomp and circumstance.

One of our friends, Jeff Swanson, found this old-timey Army caboose and we went to take pictures before the dining out. Jeff and Tyler will be in the same unit at Fort Richardson, too.

An old Fort Wood sign on the railroad track. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I thought it might be fun to do something artsy with.
Doesn't he look nice?!
On the train -- I climbed up in a dress and heels, everyone was quite impressed.

Bella is Growing!

I took Bella back to the vet and she gained three pounds in the last four weeks; I thought she had gained more weight because her body has changed so much, but I guess not. She is really fun right now -- learning new tricks and enjoying riding in the car. We are so thankful for beautiful weather so that we can play outside a lot more!

Bella has officially learned how to shake ... we're so proud!
Look at how high she can jump!
My favorite play position -- backside straight in the air.
Look at how big I've gotten!!
Hanging out.

Can You Believe it is March?

Last weekend was such a fun weekend for both, Tyler and me. I had the privelage of going back to North Carolina to see my family and initiate my sister into Tri Delta, our sorority. Tyler stayed in Missouri to go to school and hang out with Bella; while here he got eight inches of snow. The snowstorm totally caught everyone off guard, but the road crews were a bit better about clearning it up this time compared to last month. Here are some pictures from our eventful weekend.

Surprise.
After Initiation.
Checking everything out. Bella really LOVED the snow -- thank goodness!
Do I really have to come in?!
