The next two weeks in Alaska are a big deal as the Iditarod is getting closer and closer. This week, the week before the start of the Iditarod, is the week of Fur Rondy .. Rondy standing for Rendevous. There are activities all week celebrating Alaskan traditions and experiences before the start of the Iditarod. I describe it as a mix of a week-long State Fair and Mardi Gras. There are activities for all age group that began last Thursday and go until next Friday. On Saturday, March 6, the first Saturday in March, the ceremonial start of the Iditarod will take place in Anchorage. Sunday, the real start will happen in Wasilla, about 30 miles north of Anchorage.
Today I went downtown to see the Running of the Reindeer with 3 friends. This event is like the Running of the Bulls in Spain, except this time with reindeer. I have more pictures to share, but I thought these were really great. My friend Jessica took these pictures ... thank you for sharing! :) For more information go to the Fur Rondy web site.

Running of the Reindeer ... isn't that hysterical. They literally booked it down a blocked off road; running with people and other reindeer. Quite funny.
